August 18th, 2021

can someone help me out here
you see i want to replace all the current systems in my internet cafe
since they are pretty old and i think its about time i replace them all to make my customers happy
however seeing how many pcs i need (going to replace 15 at first to see how they get on and then replace other half after)
i have seen the best offer for a full decent system + monitor is like 299 and thats fine by me so i was thinking buying something like this
http://www.pcworld.co.uk/martprd/product/seo/191562#productInformationSection
ok but well its an internet cafe and all they really need to do iss urf the net so i figured… so much performance isnt really needed like 160gb harddrive theres no need.. i ghost image the computers every week anyway to remove all the dirty videos and other stuff some people leave onto it and all viruses and crap
———–long crap out the way———-
so ive been told its much cheaper to build these pcs myself so can someone point me to a detailed but easy to understand guide of how to get started etc
and in the UK where is a good place to buy quality components for cheap prices somewhere where i could buy a bit of bulk would be nice any help will be really appreciated

I’m from Australia, so i can’t really help you out with where to get parts.
However, i personally would recommend that you DO build the PC’s yourself, you will save quite alot of money. Building a PC is simple, very easy to do once you have the hang of it.
This guide here is pretty good

If I was you I would look for a job lot of lower end/Business PC’s. Try looking on eBay for reputable Power sellers with full company details for such purchases as they should sell fairly cheaply. Do you really need a monitor or do you already have those?
If you need to purchase that as well then buying individual components will probably work out expensive, far more expensive than buying a ready built PC. I would try some of the stores that sell ready built PC’s and specifically as for a price for the quantity that you require as they SHOULD give you a much better price.
eBuyer do sell components and PC’s with slight reductions for multiple orders but looking at the prices, the multiple item prices are not much of an improvement over the single item price.
Try EuroPC as they have some reconditioned DELLS with 3 year warranties for very little and would probably do the job well.
I would look for something with:
A recent low end CPU maybe any speed(MHz) dual Core2 or AMD CPU but definitely something with good power saving function as otherwise your power bill will hit the roof (if you pay separately for that). Definitely avoid P4’s no matter what the price and Pentium D’s still do not match Core 2 or AMD for power consumption.
About 1GB of memory, 512 might be enough.
very low end graphics card or preferably onboard graphics. Onboard sound (most have it today)
80GB hard drive
See here for a comparison of power consumption of Pentium D/Athlon’s. The Intel Core 2’s will be lower than the Pentium D when Idle (which is how your PC’s will be running for large amounts of time)

Try searching the price comparison sites for ready built PC’s and then try speaking to the company in person about a good deal on multiple PC’s using the web price to bargain with. If you can pick them up yourself then that will save quite a bit.
Maybe something like this, but unfortunately they only have 1

This on the site you gave seems okay. It does not list the graphics card though.

You could probably get the parts from eBuyer for around 150. The case would need to be checked for compatible power connector.

Cheapest place around is hardwareversand, they are a huge german company….

In this day and age I dont think you can build a pc from scratch and get a decentish lcd monitor for under 250,that can compete with dell etc….
You can get the below pc off Dell for 329….
Then you could save a couple of quid more by getting a windows refund and putting windows xp pro from here on it…
