Video_TS

What software can I use to convert this into a standard .avi or other standard video player format so I can play it as one video file. I’m on windows.
Th3nks
Well your suppose to click/drag the video_ts folder to imgburn and it will put the DVD on blank DVD-r.. Are you copying DVDs? What program are you using
I don’t want to burn it to a dvd though, I just want to watch it as a video file on my PC. Can’t I convert these folders into 1 video file that I can play on windows media player or real player?
I’ve got UltraISO, can I do it on that?
im pretty sure if you click/drag it to VLC player or a free player that supports alot of diff codecs ( i know VLC player does and its my personal fav) it should play but it will be almost like 15 min clips…then it will stop for a second then play the next .vob in the video_ts folder…someone else may be able to help you more…i burned dvd’s etc years ago but now i just download the avi/mkvs i did it back in 2003 when dvdXcopy was the only program that would copy/burn dvd’s
thanks for you help, I used to have VLC player a while back but deleted it (can’t remember why), I’ll try that again. For convenience and compatiblity though I would rather convert those folders with all the files to one single file which can play with the standard players like windows media player, real player, etc. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know.
I used to use Dziobas rar player or RealPlayer to play these kind of movies.
try this and see if it works….

its really all i can do to help other than burning the folder to a blank dvd which i know you dont want do
you should have problem finding a crack/serial or getting the software off here or off torrents
don’t think you need to convert
try opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO or or VIDEO_TS.BUP file in the VIDEO_TS folder
one or both of those should give you a DVD menu OR will start and play the files seamlessly to play, try PotPlayer, it has most codecs built-in
http://www.videohelp.com/tools/PotPlayer
play with the standard players like windows media player, real player, etc. If anyone knows how to do this please let me know.
you need to install the proper codecs DeScaler is the only free one I know about
or install a DVD player app like PowerDVD
don't think you need to convert
try opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO or or VIDEO_TS.BUP file in the VIDEO_TS folder
one or both of those should give you a DVD menu OR will start and play the files seamlessly
i think this works but it would play like 15 mins then skip a second then load the next vob file etc…or whatever the file in the folder that has the video saved on it…but i thought they were almost split up like chapters…so you had to paly one after the other to watch full movie but i could be wrong
but i could be wrong
you are
the “VIDEO_TS.IFO or VIDEO_TS.BUP” files are what a DVD player reads to play the movie seamlessly, and also contain the chapter info
the VOB files are the movie and are broke up to meet the DVD spec of 1gb (1024mb) per file, not chapters
the VOB files themselves can be loaded into any players playlist the supports mpeg2 playback and will play consecutively with a slight delay between files
ahh ok thanks for the clear up then the OP should be in good shape but i think he just needs to start downloading AVI/MKV for future reference once he gets rid of all these VIDEO_TS files off his PC..i didnt even think you could download those actually anymore
Hey guys, thanks for the suggestions, my only real option is to try http://www.wondershare.com/avi/convert-video-ts-to-avi.html
It’s not playing the file that is the issue (looking back at my first post I guess I wrote it in the wrong way), it is that I don’t want the video in the format it is in (two folders, one of which is filled with loads of files), I literally just want it to be one single standard video file like .avi that I can play on any computer with a regular video player wthout any issues.
Actually I always go for avi/mkv etc, it just so happens that a couple of things I have downloaded ended up being in this format that is pretty alien to me.
Anyway, thanks again for all the help, I’ll give the software you mentioned a try and hopefully it can convert the files into something a bit more manageable. In the mean time if anyone knows of a good software they use to do this then please let me know
you can get the full version of that wondershare video converter off here or torrents i think the trial leaves a watermark and only converts a certain amount of minutes etc
thanks I’m downloading the full (cracked) version now
you’d prob be better off just D/L’ing the movie in the format you want
a BR rip will be better quality than you can get from those DVD files
if you just want to make all those VOB files into a single playable format, then, look into this

Another app. you can use is Freemake video converter.
Just load in your folder,as a DVD, and it can rip and convert it to a file of your choice

VLC also plays those folders directly, just right click and “PLAY WITH VLC MEDIA PLAYER”
