using an 21.5″ iMac as monitor for a Windows laptop

August 2nd, 2016

Hi,
I’ve been searching around the web to find a way to use my iMac (end 2009) as a second monitor for my windows laptop (windows 8). My set-up looks like this:
imac – connected to a second monitor trough that apple converter to mini display.
Now I wonder if there is an app or something that allows me to connect the vga cable with the laptop.
I’ve also read that there’s a combination you have to press on your keyboard in order for this to work (cmd f2 or something similar) but this doesn’t work as it’s not a 27″ model… Oh, why not simply connect it to the already excisting second monitor? It’s an old one and the iMac simply has a better display… :/
Thanks in advance!
