something really bad has happend to my laptop :S i was on winto flash just flashing an xp installation to install (on the netbook im typing on) and im certain i was flashing to the correct drive (K when all of sudden i get the bsod saying something about kernel mapping eror or something. then i thought nothing to worry about and restarted it. But then i kept getting the flashing dash and when i press a button its said no bootable device? so i thought ok il try start up repair on my installation disk. that didt work so i tried a few bootrec commands that still didnt work so i tried sfc /scannow and it said cannot launch the scan a repair needs to be restarted. So i restarted tried everything in the bios and tried crtl +alt + delete but it just restarted the laptop. then i tried checking the memory and hard drive in the bios and they both got the ok? so after some searching i thought il try and check if the sata connecters are loose or something and they wernt (on my installation disk could recognise windows installation but not on bootrec) but they look fine please help id really rather not reinstall windows
p.s it says: No bootable device – insert bootdisk and press any key
funny thing is i took it out and put it in my enclosure and tested it out on my netbook and all the files are there and everything
thanks

There’s one important detail you forgot to mention,What OS is currently installed?

oh im sorry win 7

Sounds as if you’re getting boot errors.
Try checking the boot order in your BIOS setup (usually F3 when your computer first starts up), it should boot C:\ first, if it’s anything other than that, change it to C:\
Oh, and be sure to back up everything via your enclosure just in case.

Your internal HDD has become corrupted. You have to re-install your OS.
Set your USB or DVD drive to be first in boot order in BIOS, then restart and re-install either from flash drive or DVD depending how you configured your BIOS.
