Upgrading My Computer
January 4th, 2021
This fits everything you want, if you dont live in the UK, just look for the motherboard model in your local store or countrys online pc shops.
It supports: 8x AGP (for your graphics), up to 2gb DDR1 dual channel memory (what you wanted eh) and its socket 478 for your prosessor (itll hold 3ghz fine)
AND it supports advanced overclocking if you wanna do that in the future.

had a look on price runner. There are a few more details you would have to bear in mind/choose yourself, so below is the link to a pricerunner search.
also im not sure how restrictive this is but this is a UK search.

hope that gives you more choice.
Thanks a lot guys, I really appreciate it.
Thanks.
Just need to know one more thing, which motherboard is better?? The Asrock P4I65G http://www.asrock.com/mb/overview.asp?Model=P4I65G
or the MSI PM8M-V http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=PM8M-V
Thanks.
Depends on what you consider good.
Chipset:
The Asrock is one of those off brands, yet it comes with Intel chipsets (Which are far superior to VIA).
The MSI comes with a brand name that is known to suck, but still a brand name; the chipsets on this board are from VIA, one of my most hated chipset manufacturers.
SATA:
The Asrock explicitly says it doesn’t support RAID or Hot Swap.
The MSI with the correct Hyperion drivers supports RAID and Hot Swap.
Hot swap allows you to plug in SATA Hard drives like they were USB Thumb Drives. One awesome feature. Raid 5 is great, anything else sucks. The MSI south bridge SATA will support ATAPI 5+ functions. That means you can plug in any SATA based DVD burner.
Video:
The Asrock comes with an onboard video card, which will come in handy when your 9600 XT fails because you overclocked it.
The MSI doesn’t have an onboard video.
LAN:
The Asrock comes with realtek 8201L.
The MSI comes with realtek 8201CL. 8201CL is updated more recently. Same thing basically though.
AMR slot:
Asrock comes with an AMR slot.
MSI doesn’t.
These are nice when you want to put in a Modem, but save a PCI slot.
Color:
The Asrock is blue.
The MSI is red. MSI will match your RADEON most likely.
Thanks for that, just want your honest opinion in which one will provide me with more performance???
I hate to go with a brand I’ve never even heard of. But if you’re not going to use SATA, go with the Asrock. The MSI will probably crash on you a lot because VIA sucks balls, however, this is an example of “SATA done Right” though. Which is the VIA Southbridges slogan. I still use this VIA chipset and it works fine, the northbridge, however, will most likely be very flaky if you over clock it at all, and even if you don’t. MSI is a bad Name brand.
So if I were you, chance the Asrock
Thanks Mate…..
