System crash

Every time I try to extract something with winrar or 7zip my system crashes. Everything is normal till about 45 %, a 4.5 GB file takes 3 minutes to extract. After the 45 %, everything slows down, 3 minutes become 15 minutes. I can’t use anything, no internet, no other programmes, nothing. After the extraction is completed, nothing works correctly, everything remains slow. I have to restart my PC to fix the problem. My OS is windows vista ultimate x64. I tried x32 and x64 versions for both WinRar and 7zip but it doesn’t make a difference. Still same problem. Anyone who can help?

It would be much better if you could tell us your configuration and which Edition your using Vista ( i.e Lite or original)

Maybe your having some ram problem
Did you check the slots ?
And does this happen only with winrar or when your system is using alot of resources ?

I am using the original version. It’s a legit version. Not cracked, ripped or anything else. All other programmes and games are working perfect. @ What For ?
I don’t know whether this is a ram problem, I can’t tell. And about the slots, I don’t know what you mean. How can I check it? This indeed happens when my system uses a lot of resources, physical memory to be more precise. When I extract a 4.5 GB file with WinRar or 7Zip, I can see in the task manager that the physical memory usage is at 96 %.
