[solved] Toshiba Laptops turning off when too hot
August 6th, 2016
Hi,
Does anybody know of a solution that will uh conquer the random shutdowns of toshiba laptops when they are too hot?
Hopefully that made sense
My Toshiba Satellite 1800 turns off when it is too hot. Is there a way to get over this? This is annoying when I’m doing work or searching Thanks in advance,
JJ.
I think the heatsink needs to be replaced as it’s gone pretty fast on heavily used laptops.
just make sure when u are working on your laptop , the FAN VENTELATIONS ARE ALL able to openly exhaust the air outside!
I mean just make sure u don’t let any obstacle in the FAN VENTELATIONS path, since u must b covering them with ur lap or some thing else!
that’s y they become hOT cos they can’t exhause the hot air outside! and hence shuts down!
this happened with me too!
so just make sure to keep ur laptop on a FLAT surface and let the HEAT come out from the ventelations!
this works, no other changes or solutions required!

Buy One of those GEL Pads …
Cooltoad, That’s the problem. There’s never anything in the way of the fan ventelations path and it shuts down. Plus I never have the laptop on my lap it’s always on my desk.’
Thanks,
JJ.
hmm strange..???? lemme think some time
but hey have u contacted Toshiba ????? for support !
have you checked for dust inside?
Its not always, if you have used it for a long period of time, it could tend to heat up more quickly. My old Compaq Presario laptop has a fan on the bottom, but even if you sit it upside down, it would start blaring in less than 3 minutes. So you should either take it in for repair, or re-install your OS. I reinstalled my OS and it settled down for a few weeks but it was back to blaring up in 3 minutes.
Until then, what I do which may sound crazy is put it over a bag of ice or cold-ass water, or get a laptop cooler.
do you hear the fan or can you tell if it’s working ?
laptop coolers do a good job, I got a laptop with no fan, just a coller and that keeps it running
got mine here

Yeah I can easily hear the fan it’s always stuggling it sounds like it’s trying to breath
I’ll contact Toshiba and buy a cooler or a tri-fan metal thing or something to cool it down
[edit] i can’t even find Toshiba’s email for computers and I.T. I’ll call em
ye problem solved i bought a cooler and got it installed
Thanks!
JJ.
