Sleep mode help for windows 7
August 3rd, 2019
I have done a few google searches but none of them seem to answer my question. I am looking for a way to put my windows 7 computer into “stand-by” mode. On Xp, there was a very simple button in the shutdown menue to do this. now in windows 7, all i can find is a sleep and hibernate button. both seem to do the same thing, which is shut down the computer and then a second later turn it on again automatically. What should i do?
Thanks
If it’s turning back on that’s nothing to do with windows 7 but your BIOS. You need to check what can wake it up from sleep.
thanks, i updated my bios, and after a lot of work, i only managed to get it to the point where the harddrive was turning off, but the power pack and fans were still runing. anyone have any other suggestions?
thanks
Well if everything is “off” but not really, I think that’s to do with the power-save setting in the BIOS. On my motherboard, there’s a setting that allows me to change what it does when it goes to sleep/hibernation. By default it’s set to S1 which keeps the power on to the fans but if I change it to S3, it turns itself off like it should do.
