simple video edidting software

hi…
I have couple of videos in avi file format…..I want to join all of them and add transition effects after end of each video. I hope that the program does not re encode the video file where i want the videos to be saved as “direct stream copy”.The closest is nandub/virtualdub but it does not support transition effects.Please recommend any good and simple software.
p/s:Please don’t recommend sony vegas & windows movie maker coz i have tried both of them and no success.

wmm can’t handle avi files properly….if my file is 3mins…it will split it to 10 parts of 18sec…and wmm re-encodes the file again which i want to avoid..

If you want to add transitions/effects in your videos, you have to render it whether you like it or not. A simple and easy to use program that can do that is ULEAD VIDEOSTUDIO 11 PLUS. Search in the Appz section.

Have you tried Ulead Videostudio or Adobe Premiere? Videostudio is easier to use, but I cannot guarantee about the avi problem.

Alternatively, just save all the file into one first, then edit it.
