Shutdown Computer When There is No Network Activity

August 7th, 2016

Hello,
Does anyone know a software that can shutdown the computer when, let`s say for example, the network activity is idle (or <1Kbps) for 5 minutes. This would be very useful because I always left my CPU downloading, and I never know when it will finish the DL`s, so I can never precisely schedule the shutdown.
Thanks in advance

Just check “shut down after download” in the download manager you’re using.

I dont know of any particular software that does this, but there is a technique where you can set up a rule for an email pop3 client (outlook express/outlook/windows mail).
The rule basically runs a command line to shutdown the computer, and the rule would be triggered by a phrase (anything) in the email.
This would be useful if you knew for sure that your downloads had finished.
The guy who thought this up is Tim Matheson, and he has written about it on his blog:

I know you would probably prefer some software, but i havent found one yet that doesnt work using a LAN, so i hope this helps.

The problem is that I`m using different Download Procedures (P2Mail, Rapidshare) plus some direct downloads that cannot be downloaded via a download manager (Such as getright, flashget etc…). Thx for the tip anyway.
