Screen has diagonal lines across it ?

August 3rd, 2016

I bought a new base system to play the latest games and am using my 22″ Acer monitor. I am also on Vista home premium. When I watch a movie on Windows media player I can see diagonal lines moving across the screen on the background, and also when I play any games like Racedriver Grid. Can anyone tell me why this is happening and any way to get rid of it. The screen is perfect at all other times.

its possible your video card is overheating or its ram chips gone bad
open up the case and power up,check if the fan is spinning, cleaning the dust
from it could help too , what video card do you have exactly?
EDIT: did you overclock your video card?
another possibility is a bad driver, always use official
drivers,avoid beta/3rd party ones

Its a new system with nVidia 9600 GT graphics card with official drivers for Vista. Both fans seem to be working and are clean as they are brand new. Its not overclocked either. The whole system is new so im worried.
Answer #3
i suggest youll try a diffrent driver,if that wont do the trick then have the card replaced
Answer #4
did the graphics card come with it? if not then it might be too powerful for the power supply unit. if the graphics card is the stock then maybe incorrect drivers.
Answer #5
Yeah, it came with the system. Its an intel quad core with 750 W power unit so thought it was sufficient. Its really annoying me because I bought this system to play the newest games and now these lines appear.

try a driver re-install and let us know what happens
Answer #7
re-installed nVidia 9600 GT drivers from Disc and there doesnt seem to be any lines when viewing movies on media player, but still appearing on Race Driver grid. I downloaded the game from here and its the only game I have on this new system.
