Requirements for VoIP implementation?

i need to make a project for school where i have already drawn a network scheme, now the company (made up for the project) wants to implement VoIP and video conferencing…
Now i am unsure of what hardware/software i need to implement this?
obviously i need VoIP phones , but is something else required? like some kind of VoIP server ? same for video conferencing…

Depends on what kind of VoIP you want. If you want to say make something like a voice chat or video conferencing you’ll need a SIP server. If you want to use VoIP phones you will need a soft switch server. FreeSWITCH is a major one. There are SIP capable VoIP phones as well which would negate the need for a soft switch server.
