Removing audio from avi

August 12th, 2013

I have an avi. The original language is English. Everything that is said is then being narrated into Russian.
I have analyzed the file in VirtualDubMod. It says that there is only 1 audio stream. I don’t understand this as there are clearly 2 languages being spoken. I’m presuming the Russian has been added at a later date.
Anyone know how to remove the Russian.

It can’t be done. If the russian has been dubbed over the english track then it cannot be removed. Try and find a proper english version.

The Russian audio is likely on a seperate track so try this procedure:
1) Use Avidemux to COPY (not encode) the AVI to MKV.
2) Use mkvextract GUI to extract the audio stream.
3) If necessary (if the audio stream is already in MP3 you can skip this part), use dBpoweramp Reference R14.2 to convert the audio stream to MP3 or whatever audio format you want.
4) Use Sony Sound Forge to remove the Russian track.

If you want to get rid of the audio Just mute it
