Recommend a OS ?

Well i have windows xp pro sp2 installed now, I have quite bad specs and my laptop is slow My specs are the following…
Intel(R) Celeron(R) M
Processer 1.40 Ghz
1.40Ghz, 256 ram If i install somethink like tiny xp will it make a diffrence ???
If it will, Can you get me links too it ???

i think windows xp pro sp2 should be good enough just format it and use windows washer and give it good clean you should be ok

I only formatted my laptop last week, And its slow already!
I no i have not got any viruses, I have kaspersky installed

use windows washer install it in and wash your laptop and use your Disk Defragmenter to Defragment you hardrive

Try using the following version of linux, you can boot straight onto the desktop from it to check it out and if you like it you can install it from the icon on the desktop. Bear in mind that it will run slower from the boot disk than it will once installed. It will run sweet on those specs.

If you can afford it buy some more RAM …… 256k is a bit on the light side these days. You will see a difference with more RAM.
You could try installing RamSaver Pro.

I think just as saturnsid said. You should really chuck some more ram in that thing. It will really make a difference. Another 256mb stick at least or a 512mb would be better. But I don’ think having more than 1gb ram with a processor like that would do much. The processor would be too limiting.
If you want tiny xp head over to the appz forum and in the stickies there is a post about all the OS’s. Tiny xp is in there if you want to give it a try. There is also some other lite versions from memory.
I don’t know about linux though. I don’t wanna say anything. It seems like a bit of a hassel though
