Question about DVDFab 8.1.3.8

September 6th, 2013

I always choose the main movie option and make sure the quality is 100% with no transcoding/encoding. Today I copied Kung Fu Panda 2 and I saw there was a writing library: TMPGEnc.
encoded by TMPGEnc (ver. 2.524.63.181)
I have never seen this before, has something changed within the software? Does this mean there was compression during the copy? I have been using DVDFab since version 3 and never came across this. Let me know, thanks!

Answer #1
there would have been some encoding of some sort,
encoding isn’t bad, it’s compression that screws up quality
Answer #2
I was in DVD Copy mode with a 100% quality meter. There should be no compression when it’s 100%. I’m not the only one gettting this error. Others are seeing this in mediainfo.
Answer #3
I think it’s something wrong with the source. I’ve never had that problem with DVDFab
If your having trouble with it, then use a different program and see if your getting the same problem.
Maybe handbrake
Answer #4
I was going to use AnyDVD with CloneDVD, but it seems there are no working keys for AnyDVD. At least none that I can find on here.

If there was no re-encoding and Fab does a straight stream copy, then that info-tag means it was encoded with TMpgEnc in its original form.
Was the movie a A listed dvd or a B or run-of-the-mill crappy movie.. the cheaper dvd’s are encoded cheaply!
Even IF it was Fab, Fab doesn’t use TMpgEnc – Fab is LibAVEnc based (FFmeg/mencoder). They had some ~love~ thrown at them over GPL licensing issues..

DVD43 (freeware)
http://www.dvd43.com/
And you could try DVD Shrink, Freeware ( which does not have to shrink if the movie will fit OK.)

Some more free stuff..

Answer #7
It was from the original DVD source. Redbox
Point is… I didn’t want ANY encoding/transcoding done. That’s why I made sure the quality meter was 100%. Whether there was or not, there shouldn’t be anything in mediainfo.
Answer #8
No, what i meant was the original source was encoded with TmpgEnc.
All Fab did was stream copy (that’s pretty much what it does with no transcoding to be done).
So the media info detail you’re looking at are the original files ones (basically proving that Fab hasn’t touched the video stream). If the info had changed it would mean that Fab had done something..
