Psx emulator help

August 22nd, 2013

i just installed ePSXe, configured everything the way i thought i needed to, got pakkiso (then i started getting confussed) i have a .bin file, ran it through ecm, which made a .ecm file…. from there on out i dont know if what im doing is right. i mount the .CUE file to DAEMON TOOLS, open ePSXe, click run cdrom. it pops up a black screen, then says missing render-texture extension, i click ok, then it says no pixal format available. then ePSXe crashes…
im trying to give as many details as possible because i know without them it would be hard to find a reson for the errors. Im brand new to emulators so please bare with me. thanks for any help someone can give me

First of all, make sure you keep ePSXe closed till I tell you to open it. Now, go ahead and download this file:
http://www.mediafire.com/?p517tnaanomjdvj
Extract the zip file I uploaded for you and you will have a file called “cdrmooby2.dll”. Go to wherever you have ePSXe installed (I have mine in C:\Program Files (x86)\ePSXe) at. You will see a folder called “plugins”. Open that folder and copy over cdrmooby2.dll into this folder.
Now open ePSXe.
Go to Config –> Cdrom.
Click the down arrow and select “Mooby2 cd disk image driver 2.8”
Once selected, click “Configure” (located between “Test” and “About” buttons.)
You will see a grey box open up. Near the bottom of this box, click the “Choose an autorun image”.
Browse to the folder that has all your games (.bin/.img/.cue).
Double click on the game you want to play, then click the “OK” button. Click “OK” once more.
Go to File —> Run CDROM and the game should start working.
Note1: You cannot run any game that is packed inside a .ecm file. You must extract the .ecm file (with pakkiso in your case) to get one (or more) of these extensions: .bin/.img/.cue/.ccd/.sub.
Note2: You must also have the playstation BIOS inside the BIOS folder (located same place where the “plugins” folder was.) If you do not have the BIOS, you will not be able to run any games.
I have uploaded the BIOS files in case you do not have them. Download link is here:
http://www.mediafire.com/?9g89r3ztc66dgsh
“scph1001.bin” is NTSC BIOS file and “SCPH7502.BIN” is PAL BIOS. After you have put these in the BIOS folder, you still need to tell ePSXe which BIOS you want to use. With ePSXe open, go to Config —> Bios.
Click the “Select” button and browse to the BIOS you are going to use. If the game you want to play is NTSC, then select “scph1001.bin”. If the game you want to play is PAL, then select SCPH7502.BIN. Now get your game on
If you need anymore help, don’t hesitate to send me a PM or simply reply to this thread.

I was also wondering if I configured the 7 steps correctly in ePSXe for my PC. Cause there was one settting for display that I had know idea what I need so I clicked the preset for “run nice”
Answer #3
Just post here if you run into any problems…
Selecting “Nice” is alright. Depending on what game you are going to be playing and what video plugin you’re using, you could run into graphical issues. But for now, don’t worry about that till you run into this issue.

got it working did everything as you said and picked different video and audio plugins thanks for the help man
Answer #5
No problem. Glad to hear you got it working. If you run into any issues later on, I’m just a PM away.
I have found that the ePSXe SPU core (sound plugin) works great for about 95% of the games I have played. Something else you may want to look into is getting “Pete’s OpenGL Driver” and/or “Pete’s OpenGL2 Driver”. These are the best ones available (OpenGL2 is a bit better than the other one) for ePSXe. But as long as the games work for you without issue, then really, you don’t need them but they will make the game look a bit better.
Anyway, enjoy some classic PSX games
