ps3 online

yesterday i bought a ps3 i want to go online now i have a wii wifimax adapter to make my pc wifi but how can i get it to work on ps3 it says ip adres failed
it finds my network (ssid ) i can connect but then it says ip adres failed do i need to buy a ps3 wifi adapter??
