PS3 40 GB support PS1 games or not?

From a quick Google search result….

60/20 GB PS3 models support playback of ALL PSX/PS2 discs (hardware on board)
80 GB PS3 models support a large handful of PSX/PS2 discs (software emulation)
40 GB PS3 models WILL NOT play PSX/PS2 discs, at least as of yet.

My PS3 has 55 GB in System Information. Is this 60 GB HDD? This is not 40 GB like seller say. So i can play PS2 Games.

The serial number on the back will tell you, PAL PS3 that has ps2 emulation will start with CECHC or NTSC PS3’s will be CECHA,CECHB or CECHE

I have CECHG03. How can i have 55 GB HDD not 40 GB because i have 40 GB model?

CECHG was indeed a 40GB model must have had another HDD fitted at some point.
