Prototype Audio Issues

August 4th, 2016

I’ve already checked and made sure my audio settings were for 48khz but i still get the crackling sounds during cutscenes in Prototype. I’ve set it to 96, 48, and 44.1 but it never works and never gets any better. are there any other fixes to it? i’ve got a creative x-fi sound blaster card if that matters
Answer #1
have you installed the latest drivers for your GFX card? if not try that
see if prototype is being blocked by your anti-virus
etc.
you may want to try reinstalling it or re downloading a different version

Creative. ’nuff said. Their drivers fail. If you got onboard use it instead. And no I’m not making stuff up. Read around online.

I have Creative x-fi..And not having no problems except the volume is too low...Beside Creative..Name any other sound card that supports hardware emulation in games...EAX is outdated. Having EAX is not impressive these days ever since Vista came out it got it built in. Only XP needs EAX. I had Creative X-Fi a long time back and I frigging threw it out because of the crackling issues with Vista x64. The drivers are uber fail and they still fail. If you got an X-Fi chipset better get an Auzentech but even they still got issues. Check all reviews. The latest ASUS lineup of soundcards totally obliterate everything else in all aspects. I have the ASUS Xonar Essence STX and it’s one of the better purchases I’ve done in a while.

i do, but the sound comes through my monitor speakers and not the others. how can i switch to onboard and see how that works?
Answer #8
i switched to the onboard sound (through my monitor) and it was still all blurry and messed up, so it’s nothing wrong with the Soundblaster X-Fi card, it’s just this P.O.S. game

that’s essentially what the other link said to do, except for Vista (i’ve got XP). the 48khz doesn’t change anything for me
Answer #11
If anyone figures this out for XP users, let me know man, I cant play this game when the cutscenes sound like distorted Atari ST conversations, it just ruins the flow of the game completely.
peace

the only thing i’ve found is to change the sound settings to 48khz. there’s no other fixes

What a load of crap lol, so basically if your not on vista, or dont have a topflight soundcard, your up sh|t creek, legit or not. They best hurry up with a patch then, or confirmation that their working on a patch. Atleast the game was free though, like all PC games.

yea, it still makes me not even wanna play it. there’s basically no story if you can’t hear anything, and i hate using the subtitles. oh well, you’re right about the free part
