Problem booting pc

Hi guys. I have problem turning on and/or fixing whatever problem my other desktop is having.
When i try to turn it on the first black screen with text goes on (booting etc.) then it goes all black and it has a “_” in top right corner. I cant type anything or do anything it just sits idle like that.
So i tried opening bios and switching primary boot device CD/DVD rom to try and reinstall windows. On restart it goes black says press any key to boot from cd rom and so i do but it goes ….. and then back to black screen with _ . I opened it looked around and could not find the hardware problem. I cant do anything now.
Last known error was blue screen and forcing restart. Before i take it to specialist i would like to know if any of u have some solution.
It was xp sp2/3, as far as i could tell all hardware is working.

i am not sure 100% but problem in Harddisk may be. contact with local hardware engg.

Try re-installing OS?

yes u try other desktop connect the Hdd and install OS if working fine then HDD is ok.

Connect your hard to another PC, format it and then try installing OS.

if the hdd ist still good: did you make any changes to your system, e.g. a new external hd or other device? if so, configure the system as it was before the point that it wouldn’t start anymore.

Go to the BIOS and do a smart test on the Harddrive…. see if there are any sectors have gone bad If not then try installing OS by connecting the Harddrive to another PC.

Yup i reinstalled hdd on other pc and returned it, I am still at loss what might happened to screw it that bad that i cant even boot cd from bios but its all well and good now.
