Portable Car Heater?

September 21st, 2013

Ok so I have a vehicle which has no heat. Tried fixing it few times already and my mechanic doesn’t seem to know wtf is wrong with it even after we flushed the heating core and replaced the blower motor. Its pretty much already winter here where I live and my wife is giving birth to our baby boy tomorrow, So I need to know if anyone has ever had this issue with their car before and if they ever bought a portable/reliable/effective heater that worked which they recommend. If not would you be willing to help me find one online ?
please also keep in mind the heater can not be electric must be plugable into a battery pack or cigarette pocket plug or able to run off batteries.

You can buy a power inverter and run regular electrical appliances in your car. They plug into your cigarette plug or you can wire the larger watt ones (800W +) to the battery.
About the heater, you can buy car warmers or use a small space heater, preferably one with a micathermic heating element or anything that doesn’t have a flam.

If you’re going to have a baby in the car, you need something reliable. A child can’t regulate their temperature or adjust to dramatic changes as well as an adult. A portable heater is a terrible idea if used more than temporarily. Consider finding a mechanic that knows what he’s doing so you can take care of your child.

I have a track car which is all stripped out and I wanted something that can instantly heat the car. Go to a place where they sell caravan equipment and you will find small portable 12v electric heaters. Be aware they will draw a lot of current from the battery (if you get a powerful one). I also bought another alternative for longer journey which is a gas heater. It’s running of a tiny bottle and you can fill up at any fuel station that offer gas.

Heating takes a lot of power.
Nothing could be as good as the installed water heater.
Maybe it has vacuum operated controls that are not working.
Take it to someone who is familiar with your make and model.
