play ps2 backups?
August 1st, 2016
What would be the most recommended method for playing PS2 game backups on my new system?
I’ve done some reading around about various options, like swap magic discs with a flip/top case mod, mod chips, USB extreme, etc.
What do most people here that play ps2 backups use?
Which would be the most recommended method? I’m no electronics soldiering whiz, so I would need to find some place or someone I could get to put a modchip in for me if that would be the way to go.
If a modchip is recommended, which modchip would be the best one to use with my new console?
Thanks for any advice anyone can give me.
Not sure about the slim version..But i found the PS2 is the hardest to mod even if you have the know how because the the crappy hardware is layout out..I been using SwapMagic for about a year..and every game I downloaded so far worked…So maybe go for the safe option..
Thanks, I’ll try that. Do you use it with the slide card or the flip top case?

Don’t get swap magic, it’s pretty complicated and it’s clumsy. Swap magic can’t play some games and you might just get mad at it sometimes.
I would recommend a mod-chip because it’s just much more reliable. Try “DMS4 PRO SE S.E. Mod Chip” It’s not that expensive, maybe about $60 the cheapest you can find, or you can get some people you know that might know some other people that mod people’s consoles for work. You can just ask them for the best mod-chip they have and they’ll mod the console for you. Swap magic is less expensive but trust me, getting a mod chip just makes life easier. The most expensive a modding can go is up to $200 but I got mine modded for $60 and $120 with a better chip. Basically, your buying another PS2 again.
Final conclusion, any DMS4 mod chip. If you can’t find any places to get modded, I’ll send you some links.
