Password Protected Word File

I’ve misplaced the password for one of my word files and can’t get it to open. Am I screwed or is there a FREE way to crack it?

what version of word was it created in and what encryption mode?

It’s Word 2007 and I don’t know the encryption After reading from the link above, it looks like I’m stuck Thanks for your help, I’ll keep at it.
