Open Wifi + SSL?

At my work I use an open wifi (some random store around there) to check my emails on my ipod touch, the email client uses SSL but I’m not totally sure this is safe, by using this is my Password/email/other info completely safe or can my info be stolen?

SSL should be safe, but public wifi’s can always be checked and hacked into (fairly easy sometimes)

the packets can be dumped, but they will be encrypted so you are safe
