Nvidia Geforce GT525m dedicated memory

February 21st, 2014

hey, on a sibling’s laptop, theres this graphics card Nvidia Geforce GT525m… thats supposed to be a 1gb graphics card, but when i saw its system properties.. it appeared as :
Graphics
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Display adapter type Intel(R) HD Graphics Family
Total available graphics memory 1696 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 64 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1632 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.17.12.6683
Primary monitor resolution 1366x768
DirectX version DirectX 10

now why does the Intel driver show up only? what about the nvidia graphics card? where is that? the laptop is Dell Inspiron n5110 Core i3 Windows 7(x64) obviously not the original one, but a pirated copy…
Answer #1

windows device mgr show both display adapters ?
Answer #2
yes it shows both, no error shown there..
and well, i played Need for Speed undercover on this PC, and it worked like a charm… 64mb cant make it possible, right?

Nothing wrong here,It’s an nvidia tech that automatically switches between the integrated & dedicated GFX
depending on the need,This is done for improving the battery life,Refer to the following document for more information:
