Newsgroup?

Im thinking of getting into newsgroups so I can download at 2mbs which is what my 20mb connection should do but im not sure what they are and how to use them can someone help me please thanks!

First download Grabit (it’s free):

There are more options, personally I use Grabit, like it and never tried any other software.
When you first start Grabit it will pop-up a configuration wizard.
The first thing it will ask you is what is your news server:

Typically it should be something like news.telepac.pt (this is a valid server from Portugal).
If the server requires authentication, input your username\password:

Then, retrieve the groups from the server:

After the groups are listed, just select the group where the files you want are, right click on it and select Full Update:

All the threads of the group will be listed. Just select the ones that interest you and press Download:

And your done. Just wait for the files to be downloaded and go to your download folder. Grabit already repairs damaged files (when PAIR files are available) and extract’s the files content when the download terminates.
