New os

Hello running win 7 ultimate on samsung n130 netbook and is dam slow everything takes for ever.i want to put on another os that will be nice and zippy fast any tips please,i have no optical drive but can install from usb

YES give a linux distro a go.
For beginners you can try linuxmint12 (at time of post letest version) without installing, simply download the iso burn to dvd and boot system up from dvd and try before installing.

Use Ubuntu. But if you have to use Windows softwares and games, then use Windows XP SP3

XP pro SP 3 or linux on a Netbook, Intel Atom is not the best cpu (I have one in my Samsung NC10). There’s simply too much bloatware in Win 7, even the basic one.

Ofcourse there are alternative softwares to Windows that can get the job done in Linux, but it is the games that still has me hooked on to Windows.

It is too true that not all games will work on Linux, but for example I had Call of duty black ops working better in a custom emulator, compared to native windows install, with permission for 3/4 usage of my hardware, yes full screen and i could pick the server I wanted.
So yes if your tech savy enough you can have lots of success but in the end not all games will work.
Another options for using games in linux is “wine” and “Playonlinux” you can find setup files online to install games as well.
