My laptop is infected by virus.I want to reinstall windows but my laptop’s keyboard
doesnt work.(I didnt spill anything or something like that all of the keys just stooped working all of a sudden and I’m sure its not about virus). Is there any way I can install it because when I try to install windows it asks for confirmation, which space to choose, serial key etc.
Thanks a lot!

Answer #1
Why not connect a keyboard through PS/2 if you have a connection. As far as I know there is no way of installing windows without a keyboard since certain keystrokes are required
Good luck mate ^_^
Answer #2
Yes I should really try that
Thanks mate ^_^
Answer #3
You’re welcome buddy
Answer #4
*changed from what i was originally going to say because youll need to do this anyway*
Try and get your hands on another keyboard (an external one for computers) and hook it up via to the laptop.
If its recognised that should suffice well enough for you to work with the bios and windows install etc. Id probably use your run of the mill keyboard, not a fancy one as that may require more drivers etc.
Answer #5
BTW, don’t forget that a USB keyboard probably won’t be recognized while installing windows without additional drivers, which ironically enough require a keyboard to install

Does XP (and Vista for that matter) not have any generic keyboard/HID drivers – i thought they preloaded the most important drivers to enable the screen and basic keyboard/mouse to work, or is that only for PS/2?

Well, no. Since both the BIOS and the bootstrap loader don’t support USB drivers you cannot use a USB device, such as a keyboard during the boot process. Unfortunately that has nothing to do with the OS, just the boot process, so it won’t be possible even to boot the disk

yeh i had that one time actually (ram issues a while ago) – boot would finish without a keyboard input, cheers.
Answer #9
Aww I thought a USB keyboard would work because my laptop doesnt have PS/2 socket
Answer #10
