Mozilla Firefox

I have eset smart security installed, it updates regularly, and in the ‘personal firewall’ section, it doesnt even show firefox. It shows IE8 and chrome when i open them up though.
could this be due to some spyware/trojan?
Did you try clearing all of your private data and restarting Firefox?
Go to “Tools -> Clear Private Data” in the menu. Then check all the boxes. Restart Firefox afterwards and see if that helps.
You could have a proxy set by mistake. To fix it, follow these steps:
- Go to “tools -> options”
- Click on the “advanced” icon.
- Click on the “network” tab.
- Under the “connection heading, click the “settings” button.
- Click on the “no proxy” radio button.
- Click close or OK on all open dialogs.
If that doesn’t work, try disabling your addons by starting Firefox in safe mode:
firefox -safe-mode
If that doesn’t work, try creating a new profile:
firefox -profilemanager
The above suggestions focus on Firefox, but it is possible that spyware or a trojan is causing this.
It also may be a good idea to temporarily disable eset for testing purposes to ensure that it isn’t causing the problem.
i tried temporarily disabling eset’s firewall, but still i couldnt get firefox to open any sites, nor could i access the mozilla site from IE8 or chrome.
i did clean firefox’s cache, private data and everything
i also tried uninstalling firefox, deleting the mozilla folder in c:\documents and settings\user\application data\, and then reinstalling it
i dont understand why i cant access mozilla’s website from the other browsers
Here are a few other things to try:
- Try clearing your DNS cache. Type this into a command prompt:
ipconfig /flushdns
- Try pinging the mozilla website.
ping www.mozilla.com
OR
ping 63.245.209.10
It should come back with something like this:
Pinging www-mozilla-com.glb.mozilla.com [63.245.209.10] with 32 bytes of data:

- Try another computer.
- Also, if it is possible take you computer to a Friend’s house and try using their ISP.
- Another way to determine if it is your ISP or your computer is to boot to a “live” linux CD such as Mandriva and use the browser there to go to the mozilla website.
oh thanks. i copied the info cause its sure to come in handy sometime. It turns out the problem lies with my ISP. Things have gone haywire after the Aila
