Major Harddrive Problem – Not detected.

August 5th, 2016

Computer went into Standby… I was playing Fifa on the 360 using the line in, on sound card(so sound went of – wouldnt come back on, so i turned my computer back of and on, with the power button… then this occured). Now.. im having problem even detecting the harddrive(In BIOS it doesnt detect it at all), ive tryed the vista recovery, it sees the harddrive, but only sees that is is 0MB in size, and location: Unknown….
Im currently booted into Linux, dunno what version it is(desktop picture says ‘Parted magic’) its from a accessory CD, which is the only way i can actually access the internet atm.
Any ideas at all? Help would be much welcome.
Cheers

Are you able to format it? I have had this problem many times before, usually means the hard drive is done for. See if it spins up, if it spins up then the controller might of been shocked or electrical abundance on the PCB.

Bring it to a support service thing and hope for the best

Download HirensBootCD a.s.a.p – every tool you’ll ever need is included.

Just on downloading it now. See what it can do. If the bios doesnt detect the HD, i doubt any tool could recover it, as its not being detected. I dont mind that it may be broken, i just don’t particularly want to go out and spend another 40-50 on a replacement.
And i really dont see how turning the PC of, could actually break a harddrive.
It hangs at bootup, so it knows its there, just not displaying it. If its disconnected, it boots up quickly to the CD ROM.
