August 4th, 2016

Please help my battery windows charger is saying “plugged in, not charging” I already did the removing the battery and uninstalling the battery stuff at device manager but that didn’t work . Why does windows 8 have so much problems. Can anyone help out?
Answer #1
Sounds more like a hardware than a software problem. It should still charge when the laptop’s off if it were a windows issue.
How old is the battery & laptop and how often have you been charging it? Have you also noticed the usage time on the battery reducing over a period of time as well? It could be that the battery is dead, they don’t last forever
Answer #2
Is it a Dell by any chance?
Turn the laptop off, take the battery and AC adapter out, hold down the power button for 30 seconds and see if that helps.
Dells have a technology to ensure you’re using official adapters and batteries, but sometimes this can be damaged in the cable (due to the fact they bend, get bashed, etc) which will incorrectly report the equipment as counterfeit and refuse to charge. You usually get a message on boot up though explaining it.

my laptop is only 5 months old. I charge it 24/7 because my laptop is mostly plugged in. My battery holds the charge while plugged in but the percentage won’t go up.

Nope not a dell but I tried what you said and still no charge . Its a lenovo.

Basically you shouldn’t charge it 24/7, while you use it. You should charge it to 100% and stop, let the laptop run the battery down as normal, then charge it back up when it goes to around 10%. If you charge it everytime you’re on it, the laptop gets dependent on the charging, it’s never been allowed to run down to 80% or less. You cant do anything about it now, you’ll have to always use your laptop while its plugged in now.

Reinstall windows it’s happend me also.

Not true because my HP laptop that I used to have was 24/7 charged and nothing happened and it had windows 7.

lol trust me, the battery kinda ‘dies’ if its always left charging 24/7, maybe there’s a very unlikely chance (like with your HP) that the battery will be fine after months of charging like that.
If it isnt your battery then you’ll HAVE to re-install Windows to find out.
