IDM Speed Help

July 31st, 2016

Hey there guys. I’m downloading a 2GB file through IDM and I have a 4 mbps connection. Usually I get download speeds at around 450kbps~ but all of a sudden when I download through IDM the speed barely crosses the 300. The file I’m downloading is from BillionUploads. There is no limiter on the speed limiter as well. What can I do to maximize the speed so I can download faster?
Kindly help.
Thanks.

Do you have it set at 16 connections? Does BU give you those 16 connections? What have you got the internet speed set at? Set it at 10MB LAN or LAN 10MB (the second fastest)
But saying all that, it also depends not only who you’re downloading from, but even an individual server, as servers can just be slow on that day or even be a bad server.

I’ve set it at 16 connections. What else should I do? I’m only getting 2 servers while downloading.
Answer #3
You mean you’re only getting 2 connections per file from BU? Did you change the net speed to the one i suggested? Some hosts won’t give you the 16 connections. I personally can’t download from most hosts, so i can’t tell you what BU would do for me. On suggestion is ask in the Official Host Discussion located in Off Topic.

did you make a free BU account? Sometimes with an BU account I only get 2 connections.
I don’t know why it is different at times

I’m not on computer atm but i’ll try and remember how. So this may not be completely accurate. Go to Options, downloads, connections. You should see the number 8 i think, as that’s the default, set it to 16. To the left of that is another box, that’s the internet speed. Click that and go down to the second fastest speed which is 10MB LAN. There is a faster one that you can set yourself, but my net is useless so it makes no difference. Try that, it’s no guarantee to speed things up as much as you want. Also take advice of and make a free account
