IDM Help

August 6th, 2016

Hi gang, I have not used IDM in a while so I’m probably doing something wrong. Anyway, every time I try to d/l something it ends up as html file instead. This is driving me buggy. Does anyone know how I can fix this?
Thanks!

Answer #1
are the files the correct size, or are they small (~6kb)?
Answer #2
It’s either that you need to :
Check the “Direct Download…” box in your premium accounts settings
Or
The links are dead Or You need to re-install IDM
Answer #3
Yes, the files are real small.
I will check the Direct Download setting.
Thanks
Answer #4
Well, I reinstalled and it’s still the same. There is something in these settings I’m not doing. Once the files are grabbed and put in IDM I can watch them change from .rar to a html. I had this problem about two years ago when I last used it but I don’t remember what I did. The window does not automatically pop up for d/l links. I put my rapidshare login and password under sites in IDM. This is really frustrating!!
Answer #5
if the files are small, its grabbing a web page instead of the file you wanted. open the file in your web browser, and it will show you the page, and any errors that may have been generated while trying to grab the file
Answer #6
Stupid question… What server do you try to download from?
Answer #7
Did you re-install right after uninstalling? Or did you clean up you reg..temp files..restarted?
If you didn’t clean, that might be causing it. And did you check the direct downloads box?
Try re-installing this way :

1.Uninstall IDM using Your Uninstaller to clean up good. Then clean your temp files with the same program as well using the Disk Cleaner button.
2.Then clean your registry with Registry Mechanic 3.Restart your system
4.Re-install IDM and use.

Solving those problems is a headache as there is too many of them.
Grab a link checker script in your browser and use Jdownloader. It can save you loads of time.
Answer #9
Hey, thanks for the help every one! I resolved it. Kyuubi92 you were right, the direct download was not checked in RS. Also I discovered I needed to use the Alt key to get my links in Firefox. I guess that’s what happens when you don’t do this for a while.
Dragon, where do I get this line checker script?

Glad it’s fixed. Now for the link checker, I suggest you download & install “Lilium” a FireFox addon. & it has a built in link checker, It’s great
