i think i have a virus

I just tried downloading alchohol 120 and after i deleted the install files the windows explorer (aka the start menu and any window for viewing files) keeps resetting over and over again. It does allow for anything in the bottom right to start up (aka my internet connection) or just about anything else. Also, all of my windows restore points were deleted.
Anybody got any ideas of what to do?
tried running mcaffee antivirus and it didn’t find anything
checked the task manager and every couple of seconds (when the explorer resets) explorer.exe uses resources
also does the same thing in windows safe mode
but i do still have a connection to the internet i just cant browse my files

ok Shut down the connection to your internet ASAP!
Second, download AVG, its free^^ put onto CD install onto the PC whilst in safe mode let it scan.
