I need to find a movie

I remember the movie was about aliens, the main actor is “David Duchovny” the guy from the x files (it could be the x files but I can’t remember which one), he goes to mexico (I think) where he finds the aliens and they try to kill him.

Are you 100% sure David Duchovny was actually in it? Maybe you got him confused with somebody else, Or it was a lookalike and not him!

But you’re right now that I think about it, I think the Dana Scully is the one that might been in it and not the guy, although I’m not sure. Okay now I’m confused.
I remember the temperatures in the movie were so high, and they discovered that the aliens need high temperature to survive that’s why they went to Mexico or something like that.
I remember also this part, where the main actor was running from them then he hit someone with his car, and when he got back to the city to tell the police about what he saw, they told him that the one he hit was a human and not an alien and they prison him.

I just did another Googl’ing for the temperature part, And I got to the Wikipedia page of the first movie (The Arrival) in which this was written:
Zane travels to Mexico and finds the radio station was burnt to the ground. Searching the local area, he comes across a new power plant. There, he helps climatologist Ilana Green (Lindsay Crouse) protect her atmospheric analysis equipment from the plant's overzealous security forces. Ilana explains that the Earth's temperature has recently risen several degrees, melting the polar ice. She is investigating the power plant, one of several recently built, that appears to be the cause of this increase

Zane is discovered but escapes back into the nearby town and attempts to convince the local sheriff of the situation.
