Maybe it’s some kind of malware…
D/l and install SuperAntiSpyware:
http://www.superantispyware.com/
and run a scan.
Or run malwarebytes if it’s not a virus, make sure your firewall isn’t preventing it or has been added accidentally. Make sure in your browsers settings or extensions it isn’t being blocked. Install and try a different browser or you could re-install your browser. Then if everything as it should be, try flushing your dns.
http://www.whatsmydns.net/flush-dns.html
ok I ran malwarebytes….no malware found
then I did the dns flush but it still takes me to the same pg
I am using firefox browser…..
I also opened up I E but the results are the same
I also did a scan with microsoft internet security…..no viruses found
can you set your firefox to go to your default homepage with google.com ??
are you using wireless mobile internet as i do at times and if the credit runs out it takes you to there home page till you recharge
Dood, just make sure your computer is set to use legit DNS server,
and/or delete the malicious entries from your hosts file.
If doing the above does not work, then you have malware running on your computer,
use combofix (since you already tried the other).
ok before I try combofix…..how do I set to use legit dns server and delete the malicious entries from my hosts file??
thanks….

You can get to your HOSTS file with this path.(at least for 32 bit)
C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
Rename it “HOSTS.old” so it will be ignored, and try out your browser…
If you find it was causing the problem, then open it in notepad and paste the text here so we can see what’s in it..
Also, You can try using the Google DNS server, as shown here
http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html
it takes me to the same page….
should I try combofix then??
Do as Nel told you for hosts file.
To set your DNS go to:
Network Properties > Change adapter settings > Right click on active adapter Properties > TCP/IPv4 Properties > Use the following DNS server addresses: Preferred: 208.67.222.222 Alternate: 8.8.8.8 > OK > OK
Yep if all else no work then try Combofix.
Run it from desktop.
Sometimes malware will recognize combofix.exe ,,,so rename it to Combo-Fix.exe before running..
I rename it open notepad……
127.0.0.1 localhost
do I change it back to hosts
Yes, it don’t look like any problem there with HOSTS file.
Did you try clearing cookies cache and history in browser?
Now try using Google DNS..
try putting
74.125.227.148
in your address bar
that’s google’s IP #
in a run box (winkey+R) what happens if you put in
ping 74.125.227.148
or
ping www.google.com
Server not found
Firefox can’t find the server at google.com
this is what I get now…I used the google dns and I entered in 8.8.8.8
Yes I already cleared cookies cache and history….
the only thing that works is when I put….
74.125.227.148
in the address bar ???
when I type google it gives me server not found….problem loading pg

that’s DNS server related then, I think
if you search something on google can you open any of the hits ?
you try calling verizon tech support ?
might be on their end
I guess I will call them….thanks everyone for the help….
what about combofix? should i run that or no?
Maybe a last resort with Combofix..
If your ISP is no help..
