Answer #1
Download this tool:
http://www.mediafire.com/?cmd5ty9iv1ng1re
Run & Provide the output (If your not using Ethernet, Just save it to a flash drive)
Each piece of hardware has a unique hardware id and this tool will list em.
Also, Just to verify, It’s the 32bit version of Win7, Right?
Answer #2
I installed 32bit..
yes, its x86 system type it says..
also, that link you provided will not download
thanks
edit, i managed to download on a differtn browser..
i will run it now..
thanks
Answer #3
Refer to this guide:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/827218
The link works just fine, Do note that it’s not a direct link however so you have to use your browser and not a DL manager.
Edit: I see you already got it sorted.

Answer #5
The driver is already installed as far as I can see, It does register as Broadcom 802.11b/g WLAN, If a driver
was needed it would’ve been Network Controller , Are you aware that most laptops/netbooks have a special
key/key combo that turns the wireless on? I’d say this is your problem, Not the driver.
Answer #6
well, when i turn on my wireless, bluetooth starts up, but my wifi doesnt do anything..
i tried to install the first driver in this list.. the railink,, but it wouldnt install.so i had to go with the braodcom
any ideas where i would get the network controller please?

Try installing this app:

Might do the trick.

Doesn’t make any sense, Seems you misunderstood what I was saying, By default, If windows doesn’t have the driver
needed for your wireless card, It’d be recognized as “Network Controller” with a yellow mark on it, That’s what I meant, That the
driver is already installed as it’s identified as a broadcom.
Answer #8
i tried that one earlier
it doesnt seem to instal leither
gets half way through, then just dissapears without saying wethere its installed or not.
i think the problem is, this netbook came with windows starter, and a load of bloated crap from HP
and without the bloated crap, it wont work…
a £330 netbook with no wifi… i’d laugh if i wasnt so angry..

Nope, that’s not a problem, all you need is the driver. Try uninstalling the driver through device manager and then let windows update install it. That might work.
Answer #10
well, i tried updates on my last instal;ation.
What basically happened was, it didnt work at first, then after a few windows updates, it started to work , until more updates were added, then it got knocked off again.
So i do blame hp, for not making a stable enough wifi driver hat it has to keep cutting out when updates are installed.
This made me unusure about putting in anymore updates, but i did on this fresh windows 7..
and it works.. !
for now…
if, like last time, what may happen is, at some point, more updates (possibly service pack one, will maybe knock it out again, as seemed to happen before..
Time will tell i guess.
but at least its up for now
thanks
Answer #11
Try Comodo Program Manager. It resolved a similar problem, I’ve had in the past with Windows updates.

Answer #12

funny, ive just been informed by windows updater that sp1 is ready to be downloaded lol..
so here goes..
finger crossed it wont knock out my wifi/….
i’ll report back when its done
update
its still working, after more updates installed
so i think we are ok now
thanks all
