how to mod a wii and dl and burn games

I don’t know the first thing about moding a wii but I know it is possible. Is there a tutorial with a list of everything needed and where to find the things needed. Basically moding wii’s for dummy’s. I know how to download movies but I am new to the moding. Thanks in advance and have a happy new year.

As far as I know there are two methods to modding a Wii.
Hardware mod (this is the one I use)
cost money, but always does the job for me. You take a chip and you mount it on your DVD-ROM drive inside your Wii, and the mod chip will take the necessary actions to do what it needs to do. Software Mod
A mod that does not require you to open your Wii, I have never done this before but I hear great things. This is free, however I think its hard to do I’m not sure.
If you want to buy a mod chip, first you need to run your serial on you wii through a Wii serial tracker database

You run your serial through that, and it will tell you what type of chipset your DVD-ROM drive has. Its pretty accurate 98.9% of the time.
After that you purchase your mod chip

This is where I buy my chips, depending on where you live and if they ship to you.
If you had your Wii for a while it will most likely be able be modded. If its brand new, you might have to softmod your wii or buy another DVD-ROM drive.
As far as downloading games, you should beable to just download them and burn them. I know with the hard mod you can play games from all regions, not sure about the softmod though.
Also be carful where you buy your Wii if you are going to softmod, there is a new chipset out that is unable to support modchips.

I softmodded my wii with no trouble. It took considerably less than an hour, cost nothing and now I have over 130 games on a usb hard drive all accessible via a nice graphical menu. Using a usb drive is the most efficient method because not only is game play quicker but it is also cheaper as there is no need for burning dvds.
I suggest you go to this site for the latest info. Research carefully and the process is neither difficult nor dangerous to your wii.

here is a very good step by step with all the files you will you need. You just need a SD card to use. i updated to 4.2 menu then did this. you can do that or follow links provided there for sys menus less than 4.2

I am happy to report that I have tried Successfully the step by step guide posted by “” “the post just above mine” …
It brought my Wii from an original “twilight Hack up to 4.2u —I Bought My Wii In Canada …and this mod plays “A correctly patched New Super Mario Bros ISO” …with no problems … thus all other properly uploaded ISOs are working on a burned dvd at 2x on ridata dvd R’s …hope this helps validate info…..

no you just need a loader. I use usb loader gx. with 002 fix enabled. and have been able to play everything. cod wm:reflex, new super mario

so if a game is showing multiple parts that you have to download.. do u download all parts? and if so, how do u turn them into one iso file to burn onto a dvd-r? for example, i downloaded the call of duty black opps. there was 3 different parts. so i downloaded all 3 files and extracted each one… but then i was stuck with 3 different iso files.. where do i go from there???????

I’d advise you on softmodding your wii, it’s free and gets the job done. Plus, you don’t need to open up your wii.
