How to effectively SEO utilize forum with a /forum

i have a website and after the .com it has /forum after it. Is that very SEO friendly? What do I do to make it more SEO Friendly?

No really its the same as any site really as i put my site up the very next day i was on page 1 as i am using /portal Joomla Posting links and articles may help with SEO
