August 2nd, 2013

Hi
I am going to be taking back my Samsung galaxy SII to vodafone as i have noticed a couple of dead pixels on my LCD, im just wondering how do i go about backing it up
is it easy, what does it back up
all my apps, numbers, photos etc ?

Answer #1
Contacts would be backed up automatically to your Google account if you add them to your account instead of the SIM or your phone. If you’ve saved your contacts on your phone or SIM it’ll be easily to backup by exporting the contacts to a vcard file from within the contacts manager. Apps can be backed up via a lot of ways like Titanium Backup, ROM Toolbox, MyBackup etc. Backing up pictures and videos and other files would be just a matter of copying and pasting.

The apps I’ve highlighted above will backup the apps to your phone’s external memory from where you can copy it to your PC. You will need to put the backups back into place and restore the apps via the respective software you used. Since it’s the same phone you can even flash a freeze dried image of your phone by doing a full nandroid backup of your device but that requires a) your device to be rooted b) have something like ClockworkMod recovery running and some basic know how of Android.
