Hidden wordpress admin

December 7th, 2013

anyone know how to create a hidden wordpress administrator? been locked out of a clients wp admin and cpanel. still access to my own ftp account but don’t know how much longer. already found some hacks to add a user. really want to figure out users password instead. do have access to phpnyadmin via wp plugin. said they’d pay by months’ end, but I still need a backup plan so to speak in other word, how i can i create a non-deletable user on client installations to help facilitate future support requests any ideas?
Answer #1
You can create users by adding them directly to the Database. I doubt these users will be hidden, and for very good reasons.
Answer #2
ah, crap, non-paying client?
if you have access to phpmyadmin, you can change the password. or create a new user.

I know this nogol. But I want a hidden admin. eventually, i’d like access to cpanel and email, but I don’t think that’s gonna happen. I can’t even set up a hidden admin. Either way, if anyone here can help me out, that’d be great.

I already told you that is not going to happen. Why does it need to be hidden? What kind of malicious activities are you going to be doing? There is no hidden admin exactly for that reason.
Why can you not just make an admin account for your self?
Answer #5
As per my knowledge, hiding a user is not possible.
Answer #6
I see. No malicious activity here. I’m no hacker that’s for sure. I’d create one, but once it’s noticed I’m sure it will be deleted. Is there way to make one so it can not be deleted.
Answer #7
As for my experience in mysql and php:
You can’t really do anything such as tweaking the permission of phpmyadmin as it would affect the whole database/table instead of a result.
Hence, making it “undeletable” isn’t possible unless you are able to modify the PHP code and create a higher permission level for your account which restricts your client from deleting your account. However, you will need some PHP knowledge for this to happen and you will require FTP access.

If it gets deleted on sight, it sounds like your not allowed to have administrative privileges, lol.

I’m not too worried about non-paying clients. Most of the time I’ll host the client’s web on my own web host.
Or I’ll just call or meet up with the client and tell them to pay up.
As for technical support, maybe you can just tell them to leave the account there so you can provide technical support in the future.

tried it. didn’t work. they have basically bared me from their cpanel and now wordpress & ftp. and they still owe me like $500. Sent them an email w/ the contract they signed. CC’d my lawyer. Apparently, they don’t care. Replied and said to shove it. Pretty dumb. You’ll probably be seeing us on Judge Judy soon enough.
Answer #11
Try meeting them in person if that’s possible. Ask them why are they not paying. Maybe there’s something that they would like to discuss with you.
I have some ideas if I can meet non-paying clients in person. Their office, their transportation… *grins evilly and rubs hands together* You can print out flyers that says “XXX company couldn’t afford to pay $500 to a web designer/developer” or something similar all over the area of the office. You can even put a photo of the company’s office building, or signboard, or logo on the flyer.

I owed my own web development firm from 2007-2010 and now refuse to do websites. There is basically nothing you can do about it unless you accept payment up front. I got burned a few times. Let me tell you this now, by the time you are done going through all the motions of taking them to small claims court, you will have spent that $500 dollars in time talking to lawyers and going to court, and gas money driving around. Just add it all up, I can promise you its not worth it for that little of money. By 2009 the recession had hit, my business was sinking due to lack of customers anyway, and people were even less willing to pay up front. At that time, I decided web development in the small business sector was not worth it. Crying on the WBB forum will not help either, just learn from your mistakes and move on. All this effort could be spent developing new strategies and plans for accepting payments as well as acquiring more customers.

Doesn’t sound like you need a Back door. Sounds like you need a Small Claims Court too me.

Thanks for the advice, both SmAsHeDr & nogol. I think I’ll be following nogol’s advice instead. Unfortunately, they don’t have an office. And it’s not that they didn’t (won’t) pay me for my services, but that also don’t pay any of their writers. They say these are “internships” so they don’t pay them. It’s more like slavery. Think Huffington Post, but not that well known. These writers produced original content for the website I designed. Sorry for venting on the wbb forum, but I didn’t to get these out. Thanks again for hte advice.
