help with my decision. windows xp dark or black?

August 5th, 2016

hey guys, i’m requesting any information that is available between the dark and black version and also which one is better.
of my knowledge, black is a remake of vista in xp form and alot larger in size, and dark is a remake of xp with a glossy dark theme and is alot smaller.
i’m curious about the features in dark, like for example the 3d cube that can rotate and have a different look on it, what’s the go there? is the other face a different os or just theme and background?
and the desktop interactions like the shortcut bar thing, is that included in dark or only black?
any other information would be greatly appreciated!
thanks for taking the time:)

I like the normal xp with some tweaks i have done myself in nlite so my install take 15min

I agree.
Do what I do, install XP SP2 then tweak it yourself, this way you will know exactly what you need and what you don’t need and XP will run to your needs
Answer #4
Install your good ol’ XP. Get some good tweaking application (WindowBlinds, StyleXP) and customize to your own will.
If you want the special effects and objects, look for RocketDock and ObjectDock. I wouldn’t recommend those Dark XP and all those modified XP’s.
Answer #5
if i am u i will just use xp and install what u want
Answer #6
Just download and install, get a blank DVD, customise the installation, using a downloaded version of XP off of here preferably, tweak all night to your perfection, then burn it, and boot it
Answer #7
Use Always Clean Version of Windows XP…
if you want to use highly customizable windows go as per the said… or you can create your own customized Windows… check out here..

I have tested MicroXP, TinyXP, XP Dark Edition v3, XP Black Edition, and TinyVista. Here are my reviews of the two XPs:
Black Edition – Got good aero theme using WindowBlinds. Too much is taken out. You cannot right click on Start Menu items (it’s like a glitch or your rights to right-click is taken away). There are others, but I cannot think of it right now.
Dark Edition v3 – Installed on two computers already. At first, it was very quick and as I do Windows update, it gets a little slower. Problem was it was in Thai language or some sort upon installation. But that wasn’t too big of a deal because I can take the language off in the Control Panel and change it to English. It seems if you install and uninstall some programs or parts of Windows XP in the Control panel, the computer starts to crash alot.
I think it’s best for me to now use the original Windows XP and use NLite to build my own for my own needs.

Answer #10
thank you all for all your comments!
however most responces are about tweaking xp myself with nlite. i have never done any tweaking of any os’s, is it easy to use? are there wizards to help or step by step insctructions?
Answer #11
Easy? You bet, it’s a case of removing unwanted programs, services, drivers, etc etc thing you can guarantee you will not need, it’s very nice software with a very nice interface, go for it.
Answer #12
okay cool, so should i reinstall windows then run nlite and do the deleting and tweaking needed then burn an iso? and reinstall again??
oh and how would i go about tweaking the theme of xp to the one of dark and black?
Answer #13
Don’t reinstall yet. Just download XP and put it somewhere on your comp. Then you you make an nlite cd by just going through each section, read carefully about each one. Then when you burn it, point to where you downloaded it. If you don’t do too much crazy stuff it should be stable.
To get those themes download Windows Blinds and whatever skin you prefer and you can either slipstream it into nlite or just install it after (probably easier if you haven’t made a nlite before). You can get it from the Appz section.
Answer #14
Don’t recommend you install any custom version of Windows XP. The majority of them are all registry entries and software and I’ve installed a custom OS before and ran my registry scanner; deleted nearly 100% of all entries of the custom OS features and had to reinstall XP clean on boot-up.
Just don’t risk it, use a clean version of XP, install Windowblinds and ObjectDock and Sidebar and you’ve got what you wanted with XP Dark or XP Black – all those OS’s are themed, nothing else special.
Answer #15
I Suggest:
Get a clean XP version and tweak it whatever way you like according to your wimps and fancy! Those versions Black or Dark or whatever have glitches/bugs and sometimes drivers don’t function in the right manner.
Get Registry Tweaker or TweakUI or Vista Tranformation Pack and turn off most of the services in XP and you get a better XP.

yeah i’ve already checked them both out, i just don’t know the pros n cons to both. and it doesn’t really matter whether one or the other is free cause in my and ‘s.. everything is free lol
Answer #21
i like to support people who make it ‘willingly’ free. Anyway, i’d still recommend rocketdock. The pros and cons arent very numerous, its basically down to which you like more. Glad youre taking a customised approach to your operating system, its the thing with which you contact most on your computer, it needs to be the way YOU want it.
Take it easy,
Harry.
