I am facing this problem since last night and i need your help fast.
Facts:
1) unable to access http sites, but no problem accessing https sites.
2) did not load any software recently.
3) problem only being faced in laptop .mobile phone is working fine.
Now i ahve 2 devices 9laptop and a mobile phone) and 2 ways to connect to the internet (wifi connection and 3g).
laptop + wifi = problem as described above.
Mobile phone + wifi == no problem
Laptop + 3g through mobile phone = working with no problem

Please tell me how i can solve this issue.
I cannot keep on accessing the internet through my mobile phone.
Thanks in advance for your help.
(i am using Google dns as i faced a similar problem 1 month ago also)

i did what you said, o wise old person 7harrypotter7.
it still didnt work!!!!!!!111
Please, i beg you all, to help me out here.
try resetting internet explorer…
Open IE go to tools, internet options, advance tab, then click on reset internet explorer, click apply and then ok
or you could scan for malware (not sure if this is the reason for it)
already did that, didnt work.
I thought it was a firewall thing – so i remvoed AVG also – this also didnt work.
with /without the google dns – it still doesnt work.
Has nobody faced a similar issue before?
Can i somehow make a new connection to the wifi with brand new settings or something like that??
(just bouncing ideas)
In IE go to tools > internet options > connections > lan settings
then uncheck all the three boxes click apply and ok
I did that just now and checked – it didnt work.
Also, the apply button was not clickable – it doesnt matter right?
I checked the settings again – they got saved.
Also, 1 more thing.
I have outlook configured on my laptop – it seems to be working fine.
it is able to recieve and send emails.
but somehow the browsers are not working….
maxray replied: I did that just now and checked - it didnt work.

sorry what i meant was click ok then click ok again…
so does it work?
sorry for the confusion.
no it didnt work.
Still not able to access http sites
Other security programs
Besides personal firewalls, other security programs, including Norton or Symantec Antivirus, can block internet access or cause other connection issues, especially after the browser is updated. Older versions of Panda Anti-virus can cause connection problems. (Information on this is no longer available on the Pandasoft Web site.)
Note that some antivirus packages include web scanning features, such as AVG v9’s “Link Scanner”, Avast! “Web Shield” and Kaspersky “Web Anti-Virus”, that process all HTTP traffic, which may cause intermittent timeouts and failed page loads (see below, under Websites randomly do not load) .
Http and P2P blocking software, such as Peerguardian or Peerblock may block websites from loading if their IP happens to appear on a block list. As with other security programs disabling it while you diagnose networking issues is advisable.
If Firefox or Mozilla Suite/SeaMonkey randomly cannot connect to websites:
The site may be down or experiencing difficulties. Try loading the site from another computer or browser to see if this is the case.
Intermittent timeouts and failed page loads can be caused by web scanners bundled with certain anti-virus packages that process all HTTP traffic, such as Kaspersky “Web Anti-Virus” and Avast! “Web Shield”. (Avast users have reported the error, Connection Interrupted. The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading.) In such cases,
In the Kaspersky “Web Anti-Virus” component, you can uncheck the “Scan HTTP traffic” option.
In the Avast! “Web Shield” component, you can disable the “scan all files” web protection option and enable scanning only for downloadable executable files in web traffic.
Spyware and other malware
It is possible that Spyware or other malware (malicious software) is causing connection problems. Your antivirus and security software may not detect the malware so you should install and run another anti-malware application or visit a forum that specializes in detecting and removing malicious software from your computer.
