Help me choose a computer :)

August 6th, 2016

Hey my PC is about 4 years old and it becoming slow. I usually play games on low detail which is okay but I want to upgrade and get the most out of my PC. This PC I am getting should last in the future and won’t be outdated and old etc…
I choose dell as I am not very good at Computers and I wouldn’t be able to build my own PC.
I went on the XPS/Gaming section and this is what I choose, Please post a recommendation and my budget is around $1,000 – $1,800. The lower the better. I was expecting around $1,000 – $1,200 but I saw on Dell the PC’s are pretty expensive so I bumped to $1,800.

I am in Australia. I went to “ibuypower.com.au” the USA version seems ok but the Australian website has cartoon etc… I don’t know if its a scam. They have less variety and its all pretty straight forward and Cheap. Here is what I choose from there:
Net-Pro Case: Coolermaster Centurion 5 Black w/ 430w PSU
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 3.16Ghz 2x3Mb Cache 1333FSB Dual Core
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-G31M-S2L
RAM: 8Gb (4x2Gb) 800Mhz (6400) 4-4-4 Timings (OCZ/Patriot)
Video Card: Nvidia 9600GT 512Mb 650Mhz (Gainward)
Hard Drive 1: 500Gb 16Mb SATA II NCQ (Samsung/Western Digital)
Optical Drive 1: Pioneer 216 Dual Layer 20x DVD+-RW Black SATA
Removable Media: 30-in-1 3.5" Memory Card Reader
Sound Card: Onboard Sound
Operating System: Microsoft Windows XP Home 32Bit
Warranty: Standard 3 Year Warranty

Comes to $1,475…
Answer #3
wouldn’t pay more than 800 for that.
Answer #4
What do I do then, I don’t want all this custom build etc… I want a good PC with warranty like Dell with customer support. So if something happens I know 1 phone number to call, Dell
Answer #5
i’ll see what i can get from Aus stores. But can you say if your in the Sydney area? It’ll be easier looking from stores there or i can look on interstate shipping sites in Aus

Yeah but my mum won’t let me build it … >.< I can get my friend to build it who is in 8th Grade but again idk…

Answer #9
Or you can ask around some local PC stores and see if they will build the PC for you if you give them the parts. Or your friend can do it. Just tell your mum that im experienced with PC building, there wont be a problem,

Answer #11
well im composing a list right now from various stores. IT Estate isn the only cheapest store IMO. You can get your friend to do the building, or i can still walk you through it via pm, msn or this topic

You seem very very helpful, I reckon even with walkthrough msn I would struggle but my friend is pretty good… Also if something goes wrong then I don’t know thats why better to have my friend with me.

No I don’t need Keyboard or mouse or speakers. I just need the CPU… I will pass this on to my friend and do you think I need so much because I am not a pure gamer. I use my PC just to play gamers and other internet, video and music etc… Also Don’t I need to buy windows aswell eg. Vista
Answer #15
Ok so if its not hardcore gaming, you just need a new processor right? I can re-customize it to under $1k which is good for light gaming and other stuff

Well I need someone fast and updates as I will be using it for a lifetime. If it can play Games like GTAIV on high detail or something then its going to be wonderful. And I might just buy the parts from one store and give them to my local PC shop to build it for me. Also since its not gonna be like $2000 … etc.. anymore can I get some cool stuff on it? Blue LED?
Answer #17
ok with the new list, i cut it down but its still good. The stuff is from 2 stores, ITSdirect and ARC computers. ITSdirect is an online store so just go there, add the stuff to cart and purchase online. It should arrive in a matter of days/ 1 week. For Arc computers phone ahead to see that they have the stuff then if its there go and pick it up. The case has a 23cm side fan that can switch colour (blue, red and green) when you like. The back fan will hardly be visible and the front is covered (but enough for air to get through). If you want another anyway just say. Check out the case:

The Case looks sooo cool… Also you think this is a good PC for the future use etc… GTA IV perhaps smoothly…
And I might buy all that but i gotta confirm is its all good or I can save some more or something…. becuase I might give it to a AZN guy who might build it for me ..
Do you think i should get this?

Answer #19
It will run GTA 4 smoothly no doubt, its set for the future but all hardware gets outdated in a while anyway. That seems a little expensive for a custom build, but its a business none the less. If you do want that your gonna need to get the CPU atleast from ITSdirect, the dvd drive you can install yourself. Or you can look on Youtube for vid guides on building. (PS i can walk you through building a pc then you can see how easy it is.)

You said its a little expensive and how long will it take to build the PC because I don’t wanna stuff it up… need to get the CPU atleast from ITSdirect, the dvd drive you can install yourself.
Okay I can buy them both from ITSdirect but why do i have to install the dvd drive myself can’t the shop do that?
Answer #21
well if you want but they dont have the drive, they can get one but it will take longer. Im not sure about the price of that though.
But if you want them to build it, its fine. Should have seen the way i treated my parts when custom building, shoved it in and nothing stuffed up. So if you want them to build it, then its fine. If you want i can ask them to try to order in the DVD burner for you and add it to the pc.
Answer #22
lol this guy has the exact same situation as mine, but lower budget. take a look at my post:
