HDD Wiper

May 18th, 2014

I’ve seen so many external magnetic devices on TV that can wipe data off any hard drive. Where could I get this, let’s say, someone has confidential business information stored on their computer, and you have to wipe it.
Answer #1
Same reply as always, stay away from Torrents and you’ll be fine. Only use filehosts.
Answer #2
Stay out of p2p and even if the warnings continue, stop downloading.

It`s not just a “prank” if You wipe his hdd!!!
If You have a bad day, my advice is to do something else, anything else!!!!
Answer #4
Cheating on his internet bandwidth and then planning to wipe his HDD.What a room mate to have with!
Answer #5
Dude! Wiping his HDD is not a nice thing to do! Dont become the “Roommate problem”!
Answer #6
Point one, you have already given him enough trouble by downloading stuff from here for which he has got warnings. Now you want to prank him wiping his hard drive, it will be worse for him as he will loose his entire data including his personal stuff like photos etc, Poor guy would feel like crying out loudSnakeDoc2011 replied: it`s not just a "prank" if You wipe his hdd!!!

I gotta agree. but seriously you already used his internet for dunno how long and you seem soo busy that you want to try this stuff on a roommate whose been helpful(unintentionally may be). Anyway I cant help you with 2nd question but I wonder how they knew you were downloading illegal stuff from warez as what you download as you download from filehosters, which might be difficult to tell what data you might be downloading. Unless if you were using torrents which can be snooped to see if you are downloading copyrighted content. I think VPN is one way to still download without loosing any speed, but they arent free which I wonder will be useful for you.
Answer #7
Seriously, you are a really bad roommate.
Answer #8
You could be good to him rather freak him out :p
Answer #9
1> As a couple of guys have already mentioned: Don’t go anywhere near torrents. Stick to downloading from filehosting sites like FileServe, MegaUpload, etc and you should be ok.
You could try NetLimiter for controlling bandwidth usage
2> Even if you backup his HD data, i can assure you it’s an absolute pain to have to reinstall all your programs just cause someone else wanted to laugh at your expense. Find some other way to play your prank. I’d be very very mad if someone were to wipe my HD just for laughs.

Virgiliust replied: I've been using his internet without telling him I have been downloading "warez", in which i have no future intention of telling him but he has received warnings through the email from the ISP demanding to discontinue this non-legal downloading. I don’t get it, you sound like the problem roommate here!?
I don’t think you realize how serious someone’s HDD can be. I remember a period where my data was so sensitive, that every week, for at least 3 years, I would take my HDD out and clone it, so the most I could lose was 1 week of progression (not work, because all my documents, files, and settings are automatically backed up remotely twice a day).
PS: Something wrong with you man =(

That’s a very bad advice,Not to mention childish!,The last thing you wanna do is screw over the person your living with,You won’t
escape the fall out!
Answer #15
Alright, this is out of hands, I have no intention of destroying anyone’s HDD, I used that roommate as an example, I just wondered, completely out of curiosity, if such invention exists, as I have seen it on Supernatural and Burn Notice. As you see Supernatural, the TV show, is not in a very technological advanced story background, yet they have shown it, so I think such “magnetic HDD wiper” exists. Correct me if I’m wrong. Then, I want to know if it can be bought in any regular store such as Fry’s. Probably not, as I’ve never seen it. However, this is a warez site, so I think someone here ought to know where to get it.

there used to be a program to wipe hard drives completely and it was called ontrack dataeraser, don’t know if it still exists but they reckon that was good !!!!
Answer #19
So, you honestly think we’ll believe you when you say you want to Wipe a “drive with sensitive business information” ?? Previously, that post read something like: “wipe the harddrive with a magnet […] just to prank my roommate (as a precaution if we have an argument).
Your new edit deceives other members that you want to know about this technique for noble ends, when your true aim is devastating your roommate of whom your using his internet without his knowledge and you even use it to download warez, which in turn lets your unsuspecting roommate receive abuse letters. WTF is wrong with you, seriously? The likes of you should be revoked the permission to use the internet and computers altogether, I hope someone will teach you what being socially correct means!

– just you considering the act makes you “at risk” and “undesirable”
– if you did that to me ,
…. I would file civil suit for damages after you got out of jail.

Use DBAN or KillDisk, both are powerful tools to wipe media.
