Why is it when I look into dual booting a system I always see them using the partition(I think that’s what it’s called) memory? Why can’t it be saved on the C: drive?
Answer #1
You can’t run two different versions of Windows on the same drive, they will clash.
Answer #2
Ohh ok, damn then I’m going to have to buy more memory then. :\ Thanks
Answer #3
Memory got nothing to do with it…You have to partition your drive (devide)…
Answer #4
Can I just add more memory to the partition drive?
Answer #5
You mean making the partition larger? Do so by using Windows’ partition software (disk management).

What are you talking about. Ofcourse you can
I think the OP is referring to Partition Magic. Partition Magic is pretty outdated and has given me some problems before. Use Acronis Disk Director
Answer #7
^ yeah , use Partition magic , just make 2 partitions , and install both the OS on different partitions .Problem solved
Answer #8
Ok I just got Acronis Disk Director and am trying to create a new partition. When I click on “Create Partition” a box pops up and asks “Please select partitions from the list of available partitions to take the free space from then press Next.” And below that are the available options C: and D: I click on C: then Next and it does this whole process “Locking partitions C:” then it does D:. After that’s done it take me to the “Partition Size” option. It asks “Please specify the partition size either by moving the slider or by entering proper value into the Partition size: box.” But at this point when I go to computer C: is accessible but D: isn’t. Why not?
Answer #9
^ by accesible , can u see the partition??

Answer #11
Looks to me like you just screwed up your recovey partition FACTORY_IMAGE which as the name implies would be needed to restore your system to as new in the event of a problem Just out of interest a single drive can de devided in to 4 Primary partitions each of which can have a different operating system you can make other types of partitions but they can not usualy be bootable Any partition manager can cause serious problems
Answer #12
Which is why I didn’t finish the partition set-up.
Answer #13
Dhuz , you should NOT have selected the D partition , you screwed up mate with that partition.
U should have selected to distribute some space from C drive to a new partition…….( this is how i do it with Partition Magic)
Do u have a CD of ur drivers??? Cauz on COmpaq , all the drivers are stored on that Backup partition……
Answer #14
No, I clicked on C: and I didn’t finish the set-up so D: is still fine.
Answer #15
^ but in ur image , i cant see any Size of D:\
Answer #16

Answer #20

Answer #21
I don’t know why, that’s what was confusing me.
Answer #22

Answer #23

Partition Magic v 8.05 doesn’t work on vista.
Answer #25
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Damn it!
Answer #26
vista has built in partition software, start, right click computer, chose mange, then disk management. you can extend, shrink and repartition
Answer #27
I can’t extend it :\
Answer #28
my guess is you want to shrink it, then create a new partition, you can’t extend it as the drive is probably using all its free space for the c:\ and d:\, shrink c:\ create for example e:\ then you will have 3 partitions c:\, d:\ and e:\
Answer #29
I don’t think you should proceed with this..It will end up in tears…Get somebody with a bit of knowledge to do it for you…And before anything is done..Make sure a backup of the recovery partition is done…
Answer #30
Yeah I think you’re right it will end in tears here I come VMware
