You need to change the Sata option in the bios to IDE compatibility mode..
Or integrate the sata drivers into your Windows XP install CD/ISO..or download a copy with the sata drivers already integrated..

Download Windows XP with SATA drivers integrated, just search here on WBB and you could get it easily.

not necessarily, you have to know what motherboard “chipset/hard drive controller” you have
if you have an OS installed get CPU-Z to tell you
if no OS get Hiren’s BootCD from lionden’s sig and burn it to a disk as an image
then run MiniXP and run CPU-Z from in there
look under “mainboard” tab for chipset & southbridge or use the mobo model number
or do this

Integrate the following driver:
http://www.mediafire.com/?a7tf5whfsl2cxfh
Go with Intel(R) 82801FR SATA AHCI Controller (Desktop ICH6R)
so i got this model number 09e8h
chipset: intel i915/i915g
southbrigde: 802801fb (ich6)
can i also run minixp and download driver and install it?
Have you read my previous post at all?

im burning the ISO with tht driver as we speak. but i wana know if i can do that
either its not working or im doing something wrong
when i press f6 on the installing and i get the setup could not determine the type of one or more mass storage devices installed in your system.
Is your HDD recognized in BIOS?
Roberto400 replied: Is your HDD recognized in BIOS?
i dont think so
update nope just checked
could it be a damaged hard drive?
“think” so? Maybe you should double check.
Clearly if the HDD is dead that would explain why it’s not being picked up.

yup not in BIOS i checked boot order and it only shows CMRom, and USB device
i also checked Device config and i get CD rom IDE primary 0 then another line that says Default vales IDE/Sata
Unless you fiddled with the internal connections,The HDD is dead and has to be replaced.
