Firefox problem with AVG anti virus

August 7th, 2013

I was just wondering if anyone could help me I have the full version of the AVG anti virus installed and on firefox avg keeps setting its search engine as my home page even though in the options I have my home page set as google. Everytime I open up the browser it’s always the AVG search page that comes up.
Answer #1
there should be a setting in avg to prevent that from happening
what version do you have?
I also found this info on firefox support
Preferences are not saved

Answer #2
Thanks for the reply the preferences are saved because everytime I go into the options to check what my page is it’s set to google.
I have AVG 2012

my partner uses AVG and she is happy with it.
she never had this problem, but I made sure all the settings were where I wanted them, when I installed it
I would definitely be going through your settings, especially if it does it for other browsers
Answer #5
Don’t use AVG
Instead, use ESET, Aviria, or Kaspersky
Answer #6
Still having a problem can anyone recommend an anti virus software thats simple to install and only requires one activation key please?
I tried using kaspersky but the keys keep getting blocked and you have to change them almost daily which is very annoying. I also tried ESET which I found very awkward to install and McAfee which doesn’t seem to have an option to enter in a serial?
Please can someone help because I need this sorted asap
Answer #7
delete all cookies and temp files then set home page, and go internet explorer properties set homepage then try it.

Answer #9
You did good getting rid of AVG.
You can use Avira (free), Nod32, or KIS, all of these are great.

Try MS Security Essentials. It’s free so don’t need no activation and does a great job IMO http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/windows/products/security-essentials

Avast and Avira is probably the easiest to crack.
When I cracked my ESET, for some reason my computer would keep freezing.
Answer #14
No need to crack. Jus use free avast and free malware bytes
Free avast

Free malware bytes

Answer #15
If you want to give the trouble to crack, might as well use KIS + Trial Reset.
