Firefox help!

August 4th, 2016

i’ve used Firefox along time and never had this problem before but recently a random tab will open by itself of a random website like a pop up, also when i search something in google and click any of the results i get from a search i just get redirected to a totally random and irrelevant website.
i have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem has not gone away its very annoying!!!!
any help appreciated

Answer #1
Run your virus scanner and see if anything comes up
Answer #2
i’ve already done that and it isnt showing any threats
Answer #3
Install Malwarebytes and do a full scan. However, first you should try installing Ad-Block Plus (firefox add-on) to see if that solves your problem
Answer #4
Seems that your security applications are not fully effective. So do the following:
1) Uninstall all your current antiviruses
2) Install Avira Antivir Free Edition + Comodo Firewall Free Edition + Malwarebytes Antimalware Free Edition
3) and do a full scan with the last mentioned security application.
This will do the job for you I think, and it will prevent further infections like this.
Answer #5
thanx really appreciated, i’ve just recently install the lastest version of mcafee total protection, how come this hasnt found anything from a scan?
Answer #6
Because Mcafee is a terrible Anti Virus, and or you have no viruses. Download AV’s such as Avast, NOD, AVG, Kaspersky, BitDefender, etc. Also make sure you run the scans in Safe Mode, because the viruses (if you have any) won’t be active in Safe Mode.. and thus, detectable. Also, download an adware/spyware remover/scanner… Best ones are Malwarebytes & Super Anti Spyware, make your choice. Do the same as I said above.
Make sure to download Firefox, and download the Addons Noscript and Adblock Plus. Noscript disables sites from executing ANY scripts that can be harmful on a site, UNLESS you enable the site. For example, anything with Javascript will be disabled until you enable it for that particular site as long as it’s trusted. Good luck

To add on to what has been said here! I would like for you to suggest what OS your running on and system you have weather its 32bit or 64 bit and use Revo Uninstaller to remove every trace of your really bad McAfee and all other security apps and get what was mentioned. Bitdefender & Kaspersky are the two best for antivirus, if your looking for a free solution Malware Bytes no doubt with SuperAntispyware, otherwise use Webroot Spy Sweeper!!
Hope That has helped and like said run in safe mode!!

And please don’t say speed or security. Slowest browser about, vulnerabilities bleeding out off its ears. Addons xD xD Opera does it all, with out the need for an addon ;] Opera 10.5 is the quickest browser ever made…
One thing that made me start up FF was Feedly, now its on Chrome….
Hahahhahaha. Laters FF…
My Granny uses FF, and shes dead.. FF is the new IE..

Kay, stop acting like kids, if he prefers firefox, he’ll use firefox
Download adblock plus and noscript, great addons
But this isnt random firefox problem, his pc is most likely infected
The stuff I use to fix my pc
Malwarebytes AM – Great tool
SUPER AntiSpyware – Another great tool
I suggest you to scan with both, Super used to find malware that Malwarebytes didnt (At least for me)
Also you might give a try to Webroot spysweeper, but 2 above are just fine
Also mind having KIS / KAV installed and enabled all the time
