Startup: xinput1_3.dll missing
All updates installed.
Google looks like a Direct X issue but that does not seem to be a standalone dl. any experience with this?
Yes..Install the directx supplied with the game..

, this is at least the second time you have “pulled my irons out the fire.” I would not have called that 8.1 did not update with the latest direct x or that this newer game would not use the latest direct x. however, whatever, the link to 2010 standalone worked perfect. the game did not come with a separate direct x install(from here).You are the best!
edit: in retrospect, I just autopiloted through the extra installs, assuming the pre existings would handle it. clearly not. still the standalone helped since the c++….. all worked as is.
You do have the latest directx, which is 11 on 8.1 I think, but you don’t have the files for older version of directx 9.0c, and that is the version that some game still needs.
